I don't know if it is either possible or sensible to anchor between this island and the southeast corner of Mull, but from the chart it looks as though it might be. But why bother? The island itself is apparently a bleak place, the wreckage by the shore is all that remains of HMS Maine a steel steamship that ran aground in 1914, and the only thing of interest being the unusual name. Sir Frank Lockwood was a famous English lawyer who, among other things, was the prosecutor in the famous Crown vs Oscar Wilde case, and he was also a Liberal MP and a cartoonist for Punch (he famously drew two angry farmers arguing over the ownership of a cow, one was pulling the head and the other the tail, while underneath a smug lawyer was sitting on a stool milking the beast). Through his wife's sister, who was married to the laird of the Lochbuie Estate, it is said that he was gifted the island so he could be classified as a 'Scottish landowner' which then allowed him to become a member of the prestigious Argyllshire Gathering. As ever, the posh always find a way to game the system.
