An easy anchorage in a wide-open bay, ideal for a hot summer's day in northerly weather. But no one else seems to think so, the place always appears deserted. The arms on each side of the bay are covered in lovely deciduous woodland, close enough to the shore for barbeque supplies. Not much in the way of pine plantations to spoil the effect. There is a grey sand and rather muddy beach which is easy to land on and have a wander. Although it's not very good for sandcastles the children tell me, it is fine for toddlers to wiggle their toes in and closely examine the shells and seaweed. Behind the beach there are nice walks in surprisingly pastoral surroundings — cows, sheep and so on
