Port Askaig

Port Askaig looks like an uncomfortable anchorage to me, too much tide and not enough space, so I have never stopped there. However, if you do, the hotel sounds OK (ph 01496 840245). There is also a small shop. But in practice it is probably best to give this place a miss and let the tide carry on sweeping you up — or down — the Sound of Islay to wherever it is you are heading for.
